In the green heart of Umbria, where nature remains authentic and untouched, an experience awaits you that combines adrenaline, wonder, and awe. Our adventure begins in Valnerina, a valley where time seems to pass more slowly, following the rhythm of the river.
After a short briefing with the instructor, you’ll wear the wetsuit, neoprene shoes, helmet, and life jacket. Along with the other participants, you’ll board the rubber dinghy and, guided by an expert, you’ll be carried along by the crystal-clear waters of the river. This is where the journey begins: an adventurous journey, as thrilling as a movie scene, learning to read the currents, navigate them, and feel part of a living, breathing environment.
As the rubber dinghy glides through the river, you’ll be surrounded by lush forests, rich scents, and natural sounds: a total immersion in the tranquility and beauty of the Valnerina.
Once you reach the valley, the experience continues… but this time on foot. A trek of about 8 km begins along a path that gently climbs to the mysterious ghost town of Umbriano. Here, the ancient castle—with its still-intact watchtower—dominates the landscape, perched on the rock and protected by dense vegetation. The village, abandoned in the 1950s, retains a suspended, almost unreal atmosphere. Exploring its walls and ruins is like being a child again: you’ll find yourself imagining the lives, stories, and whispers that still inhabit these stones steeped in the past.
Then, as the sun begins to set, we’ll stop to enjoy an aperitif at sunset: a perfect moment, with the golden light caressing the mountain and a 360° view of the entire valley. A breathtaking scene.
Finally, with our hearts full and our gaze still turned toward that enchanting horizon, we will resume our journey home, cherishing within us the memory of a simply unforgettable day.
IMPORTANT NOTES
- To ensure maximum safety, each dinghy is led by at least one experienced and licensed guide, who guides the group through the rapids and provides valuable instructions for a safe and enjoyable descent.
- Each member of the group uses their own paddle, following the guide’s directions to navigate through the waters with precision and safety.
- All technical equipment is provided: wetsuits and neoprene shoes, helmets and life jackets to ensure the safety of participants.
- For the trek to the ghost town of Umbriano, you need to wear comfortable shoes with good grip.

ITINERARY IN SHORT
- 3:00 PM – Meet for a briefing and donning safety gear for the rafting descent down the river.
- 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM – Rafting on the river in Valnerina.
- 5:30 PM – Departure for the trek to the ghost town: Umbriano followed by an aperitif.
- Around 7:30 PM – Return to the meeting point and end of the excursion.
